Social Media for Industry – Artists and Illustrators

Be Known

No business ever suffered from networking. LinkedIn is a social network for professionals, allowing you to build relationships with peers as well as allowing you to earn introductions and referrals to companies that might require your services.

Be An Expert

Separate yourself from the rest of the pack with a microblogger like Twitter in which you offer advice to budding artists, amateur or professional, with tips of medium and technique. You can also offer insights into your own work, or start a more in-depth blog on a site like WordPress in which you chronicle your jobs. This will enable potential clients to see what you’ve been doing, as well as understand that you’re a professional.

Be Seen

The Internet is a visual medium, which is great, because you sell a visual product! Get your photos online for people to see and be impressed by. Flickr is a great image sharing site, enabling users to browse your galleries and leave comments. You can create a Facebook Page too to showcase some of your work, and join a site like DeviantArt where users can showcase their work in galleries, as well as browse and comment on others’s galleries.
