When it comes to creating effective ads on Google AdWords, the keywords are extremely important. Use the following tips to help you choose effective, profit-driving keywords.

 

Keep it consistent

Your keywords, ad text, and landing page should all be consistent and relevant to the group you’re targeting.

 

Think like a customer

When brainstorming keywords, ask yourself what terms you would use to search for your products. Ask your coworkers and friends, and use the keywords that seem the most natural.

 

Be specific

It can be tempting to use a general keyword like “women’s clothing” in the hopes of attracting the largest group of people possible, but don’t bother. General keywords are less likely to match customers’ actual search queries and place you in a larger pool of competition. “Vintage women’s dresses” or “handmade leather jackets” is much more likely to be successful.

 

Do your research

It’s a smart idea to research your keywords before setting up an ad campaign. You can use tools such as Google’s Keyword Planner, or trying running a couple small trial campaigns to see which keywords perform the best.
