Links to your content from other websites can provide a huge boost to SEO and traffic, but getting those links can sometimes be hard. Of course, the most important thing you can do is to create high-quality content that others will want to link to. Seeing as you’re hopefully doing that anyway, you might want some further tips to build inbound links.


List your website on directories

Try submitting your website to a handful of relevant directories. Some of these are well-known and easy to add a profile on, such as Yelp and Angie’s List. Others may be industry-specific or require a paid subscription. These can be worth it for the links they provide to your website. Just make sure to do some research into which directories get plenty of traffic.


Write guest posts

Get familiar with other blogs and websites related to your industry, and occasionally offer to write a guest post that will appeal to their audience. Guest posts typically include a link back to your website.


Appeal to others’ egos

You may want to write articles about other businesses or people in the industry, for example a “Top 10 Blogs on X” or “Top 5 Places to Buy Y” article. Send a quick email to let these businesses/people know that you’ve featured them, and they may very well include a link to your article on their website.


Answer popular questions

Use your industry expertise to answer questions on Quora or Yahoo!, and make sure you include a link to your website at the bottom or within your answer. People interested in the topic who want to find out more may click on the link.
