This spring, you might be working to refresh your business’s Facebook page. One great way to improve your page is by adding tabs (Facebook refers to them as apps). Tabs essentially work like navigation on your website would. You can use them to add multiple sub-pages to your Facebook page. With tabs, you can add a lot more content and features to your Facebook page.
What are tabs?
Tabs are located right below your page’s cover photo. Each page comes with the default tabs About and Likes. Users can access your tabs simply by clicking on them. If you make more than four, they’ll be available through a click-down menu on the right side of the first four tabs. You can create simple text tabs or use apps to add dynamic features to your Facebook page.
How to create a new tab
This will depend on what kind of tab you want. If you want to create a custom tab, you do so by linking it to a webpage outside of Facebook. So the first thing you’ll need to do is create the webpage you want Facebook to display, hosted on a secure URL. When you log into Facebook as a developer, you’ll see a green “Add a New App” button in the upper right-hand corner. Choose “Website,” and you can follow Facebook’s wizard to add your new tab. If you want to add an app as a new tab, you can do so from the app’s page. Each app’s dropdown menu includes an option to “Add App to Page.” Simply choose which page you want to add it to, and you’re all set.
