Time is an important part of every person’s life, of course it is, you need to have a balance that seems oh so simple until you start a business! You have a team behind you who get on with all the tasks they need to, but that isn’t to say you don’t have a full diary each day.
When it comes to social media, you need to know the best ways to save your precious time, while still utilising all the tools available and potentially connect with the right people during this time.
How can you do this?
A few easy things to implement, would be:
1. Get a schedule in your diary – this would mean that you spend an allocated amount of time each day on your selected profiles. Once that time is up, it’s back to work with you! This will help anyone who find they have “lost time” while using social media and the internet, which happens to most of us.
2. Use social media dashboards and apps – They are out there to help people just like you. Hootsuite is my personal favourite, closely followed by the “Plume” mobile app for Twitter. Give each dashboard a go until you find the one you understand and are happy to go back to, each one will have pros and cons.
3. Get things done in advance – yes, you heard me, use auto-updates! It will help to ensure content is going out while you are getting on with your business meetings, tasks and the bits you truly enjoy about your business. Just remember to pop in daily to ensure you get conversations started and share content from those who you follow, to build that all-important relationship.
I like to follow a strategy for our client’s social media. We go over their goals for using social media, then implement these goals through their profiles, content and engagement strategy. It does take time, commitment and it will be a slow process at first (not just building a good brand online, but also getting into the habit of getting all of this done). Don’t be afraid to ask for help, training or advice, the more you know, the better you will be and the more likely it will work to your advantage.
Regular analytics will also help you see what is and what isn’t working within your campaigns, these regular reports will make it so much easier to save time and implement the strategies that work.
