Choosing which platform to host your e-commerce website is a pretty big decision; you don’t want to end up totally redesigning your website because you hate the platform. Here are our 3 favorite platforms to help you make a good decision.
Shopify is a well-loved e-commerce platform, and for good reason: it has a highly accessible admin interface and a comprehensive selection of add-ons. If you’re looking for the reliability of a hosted platform but still want to have detailed control over your site, Shopify strikes a good balance. Their rates start at $29/month, which also makes them quite affordable (although you may spend more for more advanced plans).
BigCommerce is another popular platform that works well for both small and large businesses (even some major brands such as Toyota use it). BigCommerce starts including some major features, such as 24/7 support and real-time quotes, right in its basic plans. However, they do charge more transaction fees than Shopify.
If you’re looking for a cheaper option, Volusion is another highly popular, dependable platform with plans starting at $15/month. However, Volusion is not as customizable as Shopify, but if you don’t feel the need to customize every detail, it may work well for you.
