What to Ask Your Videographer before You Sign the Dotted Line
Hiring the right videographer can make or break your video. Whether you’re hiring a videographer for a product video, a commercial, or an event video, ask the following questions to make sure you’re choosing someone who’s right for your business and to ensure that you’re on the same page.
1. How many years of experience do you have?
Ideally, you want to hire someone experienced. If you hire someone new to the business, however, you may be able to get a lower price.
2. What is your style?
Is their style of filming cinematic, documentary, artsy, retro, etc? Make sure that their style lines up with your branding.
3. What’s included in the price?
Make sure you know ahead of time exactly what you’re paying for. Will the price they quoted you include onsite visits, editing, equipment, etc.?
4. Do you provide your own sound and lighting equipment?
Ask if they’ll be providing lighting and microphones, or if you’ll need to arrange them yourself.
5. Will you be onsite for the filming?
Make sure the videographer you’re speaking with is the person who will actually be filming. If someone else will actually be onsite, you’ll likely want to meet that person and see samples of his or her work.
